We are in the hot summer months of North Carolina. You have probably been relying on your air conditioning to keep you cool and comfortable all summer. Unfortunately, air conditioning units do fail and are not always at the ideal time. If you find yourself without your air conditioning, there are a few things you can do to keep cool until your new one is installed.

  • Appliances – When your home is without air conditioning, it is important to limit the use of appliances that produce heat. Some appliances you may want to wait to use are your oven, stove, and dryer.
  • Windows – If you have windows that get sunlight coming through them, then consider pulling the blinds down or closing the curtains. Blocking sunlight will help to keep your home from heating up with the heat of the sun.
  • Evaporative Cooling – Evaporative cooling is a great way to help keep your home cool. There are a few ways you can do this. You can dampen a sheet and place that sheet over an open window. You can also turn on a fan and place a container of ice cubes in front of it. The water helps to reduce the temperature of the air coming from the window or fan.

We hope that you never have to go without air conditioning in the hot summer months. But if you do, give us a call at Evergreen Heating & Air LLC. We will work hard to get your air conditioning either repaired or replaced quickly.
